When we were deciding on which products to put on our shelves, bamboo toothbrushes came top of our list. In a generation overloaded with plastic – from water bottles to food packaging, coffee cups to carrier bags – the life-cycle of the humble toothbrush can often get forgotten. However, with many dentists recommending you don’t use your toothbrush for longer than three months, toothbrushes (the majority of which are made with plastic) can often become a constant source of waste.
As Emma Priestland, plastic-free campaigner at Friends Of The Earth, told HuffPost UK, “Bamboo toothbrush handles can take around six months to compost, while a plastic one takes hundreds of years to fully break down.” In the time it takes for them to compost, they are sadly finding their way into the ocean, and often into the mouths of those who live there. Alongside this, there’s also the issue of how the plastic is made, with oil needing to be extracted for the material of the body of the traditional toothbrush. Bamboo toothbrushes, however, have a much lower carbon footprint.
The future of teeth brushing
It’s easy to swap to a bamboo toothbrush, as well as really affordable. As such, we set about producing our own organic bamboo toothbrush, manufactured to GMP standards and approved by dentists. It was important for us that our bamboo toothbrush had charcoal-infused bristles, was made from organic materials, and 100% natural.
The good thing about a bamboo toothbrush is the fact you can compost the handle and recycle the bristles, making them for more sustainable for the environment. We managed to achieve all of this, plus more, with our fantastic biodegradable and organic toothbrush. Made from premium quality materials, it contains an ergonomic moso bamboo handle.
Better oral hygiene
It doesn’t just stop with protecting the environment though. Not only is our eco-friendly toothbrush good for the planet, but it also improves your oral health, particularly the health of your teeth and gums. The ultra-fine bristles are made from BPA-free activated charcoal fibre. They contain natural teeth whitening properties and are naturally antibacterial. It’s like having all the benefits of expensive teeth whitening treatment, but without the chemicals and costs. Every time you brush, you whiten your teeth.
It may sound like we’re confident in our product, but that’s because we are. It’s compliant with FDA ISO 9001 regulations, Vegetarian Society Approved, BPA-free and, most importantly, approved by dentists. What more could you want when brushing your pearly whites each day?
